File Form 8822-B with the IRS by mail. There is no online version. Your state keeps its own record, so you also need to update the address there, usually through an amendment or your next annual report.
The IRS changes a business mailing address, business location or responsible party when it receives Form 8822-B. The form asks for your EIN, the LLC's legal name, the old address and the new one. Mail it to the address listed in the form instructions for your situation. There is no online version.
If you are changing the responsible party (the person who owns or controls the LLC), the same form covers it. The IRS asks you to file within 60 days of that change.
Processing usually takes several weeks. Until it does, IRS letters may still go to the old address, so keep your mail forwarding or scanning in place.
Your Secretary of State has its own record of your principal and mailing address. Depending on the state, you update it with an amendment filing or on your next annual report. Wyoming and Florida let you change it on the annual report. Delaware LLCs list only the registered agent on the public record, so a principal address change is a matter for the IRS and your bank.
Your registered agent address is where the state sends legal notices. Your mailing address is where you want IRS and bank letters to arrive. Your principal address is where the business is run from. Changing one does not change the others. Your bank also needs its own update through its app or support team.
